Mountain Bike Touring Adelaide – This Facebook group is dedicated to Off Road Mountain bike touring in Adelaide. While other groups focus more on Downhill and technical MTBing, this group is more for those who want to take things a bit slower to take in the surrounding scenery.

Bicycle Passport –  A guide to keeping your bicycle safe.
In the unfortunate event your bicycle is stolen, a completed Bicycle Passport is helpful when reporting the theft to police. The Bicycle Passport enables you to record the identifying features and a photograph of your bicycle to make it easy for police to identify if stolen. It also provides simple security steps for cyclists to avoid becoming a victim of crime.

AUSTRALIAN CYCLING ORGANISATIONS

Bicycle SA is the largest club representing recreational cycling in South Australia.  It has a large rides programme and carries out an extensive education program.

Bicycle Institute of South Australia (BISA)  South Australia`s foremost cycling advocacy organisation. BISA works with all levels of government on behalf of recreational, commuting, touring, racing and dis-advantaged cyclists and walkers. Adelaide`s infrastructure is improved through BISA`s work.

Bicycle Network Victoria organises the highly successful “Great” bike rides in Victoria and elsewhere.  It is also the main cycling advocacy group in Victoria.

Bicycle New South Wales is one of the larger cycling organisations in Australia.  It runs the “Big” rides in New South Wales.

Melbourne Bicycle Touring Club, the premier cycle touring club in Melbourne has an extensive rides programme and a wide ranging links page.

Pedal Power ACT – Based in the national capital, Canberra, PPACT is one of the more active cycling groups in Australia. Their website contains a wealth of information on cycling around Canberra as well as overseas.

INTERNATIONAL CYCLING ORGANISATIONS

Adventure Cycling Association – America’s peak cycle touring organisation who have been responsible for the development of a number of significant long distance cycle trails in the United States including the new Lewis and Clark Trail following the route of the first Europeans to cross the country.  They publish excellent maps of routes throughout the country.

Auckland Cycle Touring Association website containing information on cycle touring in New Zealand and organised cycle touring events. There are links to some excellent photographs of overseas tours.

Cyclists Touring Club – CTC – with nearly 80,000 members it is the largest cycling organisation in the United Kingdom.  It has extensive touring information on Europe and elsewhere in the world available to members.

Cyclo-Camping International is a French organisation promoting cycle touring in France and around the world. The site includes access to their homestay directory. In French only.

Sheldon Brown’s website contains a wealth of information on bicycles and bicycle touring including an interesting reprint of an early guide to taking bikes to France.

Camping France – this website claims to have all 10,800 or so French campgrounds listed. It can be easily searched by name, town or region. Available in French or English.

European Bike Express operates specially built buses and trailers to carry cyclists from England to Europe. It has a number of routes across France to Switzerland, Italy and Spain.

German Railways – an easy to use site where you can find the trains that carry bicycles. In English, it includes railways of a number of other European countries. Just click on the ‘Means of Transport’ button and then the ‘Bike’ button when filling in your enquiry.
