Event: Adelaide to Angaston and return
Leader: Interested? Please, contact Eric: 0402 356 796 firstname.lastname@example.org
Torrens Weir to Angaston and return – The Plan (go to RideWithGPS):
We start at the Weir at 9am on Thursday others may join along the way but we will need to know where you want to connect on to the ride group. We ride the boring Northern Connector Expressway and Stuart O’Grady bike way, after 52km we then weave through Gawler town for 8km and reach the very interesting Barossa Cycleway. Morning tea probably late in Gawler, Lunch Barossa Brewery, Tanunda afternoon tea Angaston back to Nuriootpa supermarket to buy pasta etc for Evening Meal at our Accom’. https://barossatouristpark.com.au/ we have reserved a 6 berth cabin for 4 additional riders @ $40 for the night. The cabin will be base camp for all, those who prefer to bring a tent. Base camp or community Kitchen will provide us with an opportunity to enjoy a group pasta and salad meal and recharge ebike batteries. Only powered tent sites are available, but for three tents on a powered site is $15 each ($45 per site) or ensuite powered site $20 each ($60 per site). Eric intends to tow behind his ebike a “kiddy trailer” so some space for sleeping bags and tents may be available otherwise bikepack or small backpack.
Saturday 2nd of April and Sunday 3rd of April 2022
Event: Lavender Cycling Trail Loops (Murray To Clare)
Leader: Robyn 0401 364 019
Meeting place: Saturday’s ride we meet at Murray Recreation and Camping Ground at the corner of Eden Valley Road and Rhine Park Road, Eden Valley at 10am
Sunday’s ride starts at Moculta Recreation Park, Moculta at 10am
Over the last year Paul and I have been very slowly riding along the Lavender Cycling Trail (Murray 2 Clare) (M2C) from Murray Bridge towards Clare in loops. We are planning on doing another two days and you may like to join us.The cycling route is varied but is often white gravel roads or bitumen roads with quite a few undulations and lovely dry rural landscapes. The Saturday ride will be approximately 50kms and 500m climb. You could camp the night before or drive up on the Saturday morning. This ride has no facilities so bring your own food and water. We are going to camp at this camp ground on Saturday night. The camp ground has powered and un-powered sites but no cabins and there is a hotel in town where you could have a meal. Paul and I will probably bring our own. You could even stay in Angaston or Nurioopta, neither of which are far away.
On Sunday starting from Moculta we ride towards Truro and onward to Dutton before returning, a distance of about 50kms all up. About a 440m climb and 70% gravel. Coffee and food available at Truro as we pass through. We do hope to continue along the M2C Trail in the future, eventually reaching Clare and plan to keep you updated in case any one wants to come along. The weather can be severe in this area so plans are weather dependent. You need to have a mechanically sound bicycle suitable for gravel roads or sand, spare tubes and a few tools and a pump. Please let Robyn or Paul know by phone or email email@example.com if you are planning to attend.
