UPCOMING TOURS
Canberra Tour Monday 30th October to Monday 6th November 2023.
Visit and ride cycle friendly Canberra with SARCC.
The War Museum, Parliament House, the Arboretum, the Sculpture garden or even just trying to find a section of the Berlin Wall, there is plenty to do in our capital city either on or off bike.
If you can tear yourself away from sitting in the galleries at Parliament House watching our democracy in action then the club has many rides of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty to offer.
The Tour conditions…
- You book your own accommodation. The Organisers will be staying at Alivio Tourist Park and most rides will start from there. No tent sites are available here but there are other caravan parks nearby that offer these. Alivio is close to central Canberra so if you decide to take a break from riding it is not too far to the city and other sightseeing opportunities.
- You make your own travel arrangements.
- If there enough participants then more than one ride per day will be scheduled.
- We will meet each evening to discuss the next day’s rides.
- We will book a group meal at a local eatery one evening of the tour.
Some of the rides that may be offered. Feel free to suggest others. We are also looking for volunteers to lead rides….
- Lake Burley Griffin circumnavigation
- Canberra Centenary Trail in 2 or 3 parts
- Queanbeyan out and back
- Mount Stromlo
- Majura Pines, Gold Creek, Belconnen loop
- various rides around Canberra (Red Rock Gorge, Woden, Blue Range)

The idea is that we will have several rides planned out by various members to try to cover the different interests of our riders. Hopefully, there will be some short, all bike trail rides, some more challenging rides on dirt roads and some longer roadie type rides. There may even be a lunch ride to a winery and back. Some of the rides will involve a drive to the start and possibly a car shuffle. The first day’s ride will be pre-arranged. We will have our usual 5pm Happy Hour each afternoon and at this time members can decide what ride they would like to attempt the next day and someone may need to step up and lead it. Several of us on the committee will have prepared a ride or two but if any member has an idea for a ride in these areas please, we would love to hear from you. At this stage we do not have the rides fully prepared only some ideas. Just before the event we will let the participants know more details. Both the Clare Valley and the Fleurieu Peninsula are perfect for cycling adventures.
