The usual departure point for rides from the city centre is Victoria Square in the small park adjacent to the Cathedral. It is a good idea to confirm this for each ride and check the time of departure. As all rides are led by volunteers there is no guarantee they will want to start from there.

 

Country Rides

For country rides beginning elsewhere, usually a town outside Adelaide, riders need to arrange their own transport. Other club members may be able to assist. The telephone number of the ride leader is always provided and it is prudent to check for any change in the meeting place details.

HOT WEATHER and FIRE DANGER

For all scheduled SARCC Rides, if the Adelaide forecast maximum, as at 6.00 p.m. the evening before the ride is 35 degrees Celsius or over and/or the fire danger warning in the area of the ride is designated “Severe, Extreme, Catastrophic” the leader has the right to cancel the ride without notice.

Equipment

All riders should carry a pump, a puncture repair kit and a water bottle, and when necessary an effective raincoat. Bring lunch or money to buy some. Unless otherwise indicated rides are planned so that there will be somewhere to buy lunch.

March 19th 2023 Brighton Coastal Loop North
Meet on the East side of Brighton Station for a 10 am start. There is a 9:57am train arrival at Brighton Station. Ride across to and along Sturt Creek, and then Bikeway to Apex Park on Sir Donald Bradman drive for lunch. (Bring or buy). Return to Brighton largely along the beachfront via Henley Beach. April 2nd 2023 Exploring the Adelaide Hills – Balhannah, Nairne & Mt Barker
Meet at 10.00am at the Balhannah Oval carpark on Onkaparinga Valley Rd next to the playground & toilets. BYO lunch. Coffee at the end of the ride. 41 kms, 584m elevation. Paved 64% Unpaved 36% Mountain or hybrid bikes recommended.

10 am start at Woodside swimming pool carpark. Ride along AG BIKEWAY and then into the hinterland up to Charleston. Then up to Mt Torrens for lunch.

August 28th 2022 South-western Suburbs Ride
Meet at 10:00am, Victoria Square. Ride through Southern Parklands to Goodwood and on to Darlington with a return along the Sturt Creek and Western Bike Way with a few deviations along the way. This ride is mainly on Bikeways and minor roads. Coffee will be near the end of the ride, either at Bonython Park or Launders Cafe, depending on the weather. Approximately 40 km. BYO lunch.

August 14th 2022 Jilden’s Memorial Ride, Kanmantoo.
Meet at 10am Main street near toilets in Hutton Reserve, Kanmantoo. A great gravel ride through the hills and dales. Late lunch at Callington. BYO food and drink. Return via bitumen or extra gravel road. 40 – 45km.

May 22nd 2022 Cruising ‘n criss-crossing:  creeks and rivers
Meet at Mawson Lakes railway station and bus interchange at 9.30am to enable off-loading of bikes and to depart at 10am.   There is a large car-parking area (Mawson Park ‘n Ride) next to the interchange bound by Metro Parade and Central Link.
Approaching from Salisbury Highway, take a right turn on Elder Smith Road.
Approaching from Main North Road, take a left turn on Elder Smith Road.
There are public toilets at the Interchange.
A fairly flat circuitous route, mainly on shady bikeways and interesting interconnecting trails alongside Dry Creek and the Little Para River.  45 km, 317m elevation gain – suit all bikes. See also
