Christmas Ride

Report & photos: Angela Roodhouse

On Sunday  21st December the SARCC went on the last ride of the year; 15  people came which was surprising as the temperature was predicted 36 and it was close to Christmas. It was decided to go on a short ride from Victoria Square.

Before we left the ride, leader Peter picked the best decorated bike which was David Partington’s. He and his bike were very colourful and David said he had received lots of comments on the train.

We had a relaxing ride around the southern and eastern parklands and through the new tunnel at the Adelaide showgrounds to Goodwood.  Returning via Whitmore Square we stopped at Troppos café which was a first experience for most of us. An interesting café with a relaxed atmosphere. We were intrigued by the orange juice served in jam jars with bamboo straws and the offer by the cafe to swap home grown veggies and herbs for a free coffee. The coffee and cakes were good so we were happy.

It was getting hotter and windier so most cut short their rides to catch trains and buses home. I think most of us were glad we came it made a pleasant change to get a ride and some exercise and get away from the pre Christmas rush for a while. Thanks to Peter who led the ride and all those who decorated their bikes
